SustainabilityThere are countless web sites and resources that spell out the scientific data for global warming and all the scary statistics for the human impacts on the environment. Without repeating all that data here this page will address the personal decisions you can make during the design process that will help make your project inherently sustainable.
It is seldom acknowledged that to change course on current climate trends that the world will not be able to buy its way out of global warming. This message would be counter productive to the commercial interests that are green washing the markets. This is not to say that there are not great sustainable product on the market, but the key is to be a smart consumer. Links to really great environmentally sustainable products can be found below. The real solutions to living sustainably will be to focus on revamping our existing building stock up to reduce what we are already using and when a new building is necessary to be sure it is built with sustainability in mind and using the best practices of construction too.
